Letterboxing Featured in Ohio Magazine

From: Randy & Becky Adams (3dognight@cityofbryan.net) | Date: 2002-05-30 22:03:29 UTC-04:00
Letterboxing is featured in the June issue of Ohio Magazine. We have not
seen it yet, except online. Our letterbox, which was featured in the
article, went missing on Memorial Day. Two new, enthusiastic letterboxers
were on the trail of finding their first letterbox and they would have been
the first finders of this box when it was reported "missing in action". This
is very disappointing for the planters as well as the would-be finders. I
know this happens frequently. How do you deal with it? It is especially
disappointing for us after having it featured in the magazine.

Well...it's something of a catch-22...if there's an article about
letterboxing in a largely distributed magazine...more poeple are
going to go to the web site to see clues and we've got to figure
that, along with introducing more poeple to LBNA...it's also going to
increase chances of vandalism, complaints, and missing boxes.
Some small amount of publicity is ok.....but, in my opinion, the more
visible this sport becomes, the problems we'll have. I'm not sure if
articles like this are a boon and a bite.

Hey, I said the article has not come out yet.  I have not recieved mine in the mail, the local library does not have it yet and it is not on the newsstands yet. The box went missing before that so please don't blame us or the article. Thanks!

Here we go again.........my freedom of speech is being taken away. Geez! Guess I will crawl back into my cave again to avoid this negativism, busszz! Some days you just can't win!!

What's the URL for the magazine? I'd like to look at it. Thanks.

Relax Campers....I did not blame the problem on you or on that
specfic article. I mearly stated an opinion that publicity is a
double edged sword....if you don't agree with me that's a pefectly
accetable resposne and this group is a good forum for stating your
veiw.
Come out of the cave...it's a nice day.
